WE’VE BEEN RAISING CHICKENS FOR…
WE LOVE OUR JOB MOST BECAUSE…
“Our nine-year-old daughter has been going into the barn since she could watch what we do. Along with seeing your children grow, there’s no better way to teach values: that farming is a group effort, that we must respect our animals and the environment, and that we must problem-solve together. Often, there’s nothing we can just buy from a store to fix a problem. It might be 3:00 a.m., and we’ve got to find a way to make things work, because it’s a matter of survival for the birds. They are counting on us to do the right things.”
PEOPLE ARE MOST SURPRISED ABOUT…
“The amount of feed it takes to raise chickens.”
“There really is no typical day on the farm [both laugh]. We check on the chickens right away in the morning, and then before dinner time. Of course, we have barn alarms that alert us to any potential problems, which usually go off in the middle of the night!”
